Individual note:   He was only four years old when his father died. They made their home and owned property in New Brunswick, NJ. He served for a short time in the Continental Army, as a private in Captain Jacob Ten Dyck's 1st. Regiment, Somerset County Militia from February 26 to March 27, 1777 (H. Sharpe).
