Note for:   Anders Anderson,   ABT 1829 - ABT 1911         Index
Individual note:   AKA: Andreas, Andren, Andrew. Depending on what document you look at.
First data I have comes from the courts, 10/3/1881, a judgement stating that Anders was insane but not requiring restraint. He was released. On Feb 22, 1882 Anders stabbed his wife in the abdomen and fingers. She died Feb. 27, 1882 of the wounds. Anders was arrested and the court found him quilty of second degree murder.
According to the trial transcripts, the children testified that their father got sick during the fall stacking season of 1881, and started having delusions and hallucinations about his wife having sexual intercourse with her sons. All of which were unfounded. It culminated on Feb 22, 1882, when Anders, in a fit of rage, assulted Caroline with first a single barrle shot gun, then a pocket knife. He was sentenced on May 18, 1883 to life the Minnesota State Prison at Stillwater. His sentence was commuted by the Governor of Minnesota due to finding later that Anders was insane at the time of the trial and that a new trial should have been granted, according to the trial judges that sentenced him, the prosecuting attorney, and several other citizens. He was released on August 1, 1891 and some time later left for Sweden. According to information passed down through the family, one or two of the children left with Anders for Sweden.
Anders purchased the NW 1/4 of section 30, in township 114 north of range 35, (160 acres) on January 2, 1883. He sold the property to Charles Anderson, his son, in 12/20/1902. Charle's mortgage to Anders was satisfied 2/7/1911 with Anders passing away and an Edward Anderson handling the estate matters.
We received notification from Smolanders, Sweden of his death. He may have lived in Gothenbury Sweden/dw
